There are a number of useful websites that have material and analysis on the global issues affecting development and advocacy. Here are a few of them. If you have a suggestion for a site, then email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
G8 & G20 Summits
G8 Research Centre, University of Toronto & G20 Research Centre, University of Toronto
The G8 & G20 Research Centre is the chronicler of the G8 and G20s (separate websites). The Centre maintains a database of all the communiques and declarations from the G8s and, now, the G20s. It also provides a useful information background paper on the Gs each year.
G20 Official Site
While this is the main site for the G20 it is not useful for info on the G20 - the G20 Research Centre has much more documentation on the G20 than this one.
DATA Report
The ONE Campaign produces the annual DATA Report which compiles a review of the progress the G8 is making towards its development commitments to Africa. This is the industry standard of G8 accountability to Africa. The review is published each year in June in the lead-up to the G8 Summits and is available in a number of languages as well.
Economic Summits
An interesting site that I only recently came across. It has news and analysis of economic summits, specifically the G7, G8 and G20. It is very good and much better than the Sherpa: the articles and analysis is very intellectual and pitched at the policy specialist level, not like my posts alas. It is run by Dr. Nicolas Simiand (Ph.D. in Economics, University of Grenoble, France.) who recently published his PhD on the hegenomy of the G7 - see what I mean.
Seoul G20 Summit Offical Webpage
This is the official Seoul G20 Summit page (there are a few odd ones out there) which has alot of useful information including schedule of events and press releases etc.
Seoul B20 Business Summit
Hopefully this page will become more useful as it is pretty static at the moment.
Chioke's G20 Site
The southern civil society portal, Choike, has created a G20 webpage and has posted a number of articles, policy documents and other information from Southern NGOs on the issue of the G20.
International Financial Institutions
Bretton Woods Project
This is the British organisation supported by UK NGOs which is a watchdog on the IFIs. It produces great analysis and a regular report/magazine for subscribers.
Halifax Iniative
The Canadian equivalent of the Bretton Woods Project, it also has a lot of useful background information.
