Screen_shot_2011-03-31_at_3.38.02_PMWant to travel to Africa, see the issues on the ground, with the actor Bill Nighy? This was an offer it seems the UK banking community could refuse. The Robin Hood Tax campaign along with Nighy had put out an offer to the CEOs of the major banks to join in a trip to Kenya and around the UK to see the effects of poverty.

Perhaps, unsurprisingly, the not one of the Bankers agreed to participate by the deadline of the 25th March. Indeed, according to the campaign, of the banks invited, only two - HSBC and RBS - even bothered to reply. This is despite 16,000 supporters adding their voice to the invitation. It seems the Banks have pulled up the draw bridges and are not going to enter into this debate. It is not known whether Mr Nighy will travel on his own to Kenya.
