The G20 Agricultural Ministers are meeting this week in France for the first time. The French government has put food security on the G20 agenda for November, so the Ministers have to come to some agreement on agricultural and food issues. Less than 24 hours after the IMF Managing Director was arrested at JFK airport in New York, a new NGO website has been launched to campaign on the IMF's selection process for its Managing Director. While Mr Strauss-Kahn's arrest was a shock, the NGO community had been preparing for avacancy at the IMF as it was thought DSK would be stepping down in June to prepare for French elections in 2012.

The Gates Foundation held its second consultation with civil society for Bill Gates' report on development finance to be delivered at the Cannes G20. The consultation is the second of three such meetings scheduled to help inform Mr Gates of NGO perspectives of development finance.
The global health community is putting its lobbying efforts into getting support to tackle non-communicable diseases in developing countries for 2011. This marks a change from the 'traditional' health area of HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB normally at the heart of global health campaigning.
On the eve of World Malaria Day, the Japanese government agreed its first draft of its extra budget which would cut its entire 2011 contribution to the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB. Japanese NGOs are urging the government to reconsider its decision.
