The press conference took place on the opening day of the G8 and featured speakers from WWF, Canadian Labour Conference, Actionaid, GCAP, CCIC and the Malawian Association of Midwives. The well attended event saw the coming together over over 10 different petitions into one hand-over. The different petitions call on the leaders to make a meaningful commitment on the Maternal and Child Health initiative, honour the pledge to help developing countries adapt to climate change, agree on a concrete plan to sustain HIV/AIDS treatment programs and deliver on promises for universal education.
The actual numbers were given to the Prime Minister's Office representative on Wednesday of this week.
